Islamophobia is a new emerging challenge for the world. Also, It seems now the world is preparing for another war. Islamophobia is fear, hatred, or prejudice against Islam and Muslims. It was first promulgated in the 20th century by the Commission on British Muslims and Islamophobia: A challenge for us all. Anti-Muslim prejudice is growing mostly in the USA and Europe. First of all, it was stated that this prejudice is emerging on the internet but now it is growing in public life.
The term Islamophobia is mostly inspired by Xenophobia. After 9/11 right-wing ideological activists waged a war against Islam and Muslims. They started a network to disseminate misinformation against Muslim and Islam. Moreover, the rise of ISIS and multiple terror attacks in the USA and Europe instigated hatred and prejudice. Presence of Muslims in USA and Europe is also an important factor of anti-Muslim sentiment.
Also, White supremacy is growing and it is evident from the fact that American president numerously tweeted against Muslims. In US midterm elections Muslim participants were discouraged to apply most of them received threat calls.
According to a survey, most Americans do not know a Muslim.
- 62% never conversed with a Muslim.
- 57% know a little about Muslims.
- 26% know nothing about Islam.
Now, this is the burning question of time without knowing how can we disagree? Is this fight is worth fighting? It is also evident from the fact Muslims have suffered most if we talk about terrorism. If we want to solve the problem, first of all, we should acknowledge there is a problem.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Media is playing a negative role. Whenever a terror attack occurs they attribute it to the Muslims. The blame game will deceive us and also it will mislead us to great catastrophe. It is never too late to do something great. Great things take time.
Contrasting views on Islam
Islam is seen as a monolithic bloc, static and unresponsive to change. Also, It is seen as separate and “other”. It does not have values in common with other cultures, is not affected by them and does not influence them. Islam is seen as inferior to the West. It is seen as barbaric, irrational, primitive, and sexist. Moreover, they consider Islam as violent, aggressive, threatening, supportive of terrorism, and engaged in a clash of civilizations.Also, It is seen as a political ideology, used for political or military advantage.
